KEY
Key is a unique number required for each record in a database and is not searchable at this time.
A_NUM
The Accession number, a unique number assigned for each item, is a six digit number padded with leading zeroes if needed. A decimal fraction on an accession number indicates a subsection within the main item to identify additional contents. For example, a search has listed a book's accession number as 008203.4. Searching the A_NUM field for 008203 will list the entire collection.

LCCN
The Library of Congress Control Number is useful for finding additional information about an item.
ISBN
The International Standard Book Number is also useful for locating additional information.
STATUS
As entries are added or confirmed, the STATUS column will indicate 'Available'. STATUS does not indicate at this time whether an item is already loaned out.
D_NUM
This is the Dewey Decimal Number. It can be used for all books, but we use it only for non-fiction works. Other codes in this column that we use are 'Bi' for biography or autobiography, 'Fi' for fiction (high school and adult), "Fc" for children's fiction (elementary grade levels), and 'ER' for easy reader materials (preschool through grade 1). The various categories are labeled on the top end corner of the shelves as you enter the library. All non-fiction books are ordered by D_NUM and then AUTHOR. All fiction books are ordered by AUTHOR and then TITLE. Certain reference materials are kept in special locations out of the normal D_NUM order. Additional codes include: AB for Audio Book, AM for Audio Media, and V for video. Use a decimal point to search only for nonfiction works.

TITLE
Partial titles or even a word will work for searching. If you are not sure of the complete title, use only the word(s) you're sure of.
AUTHOR1
The first author of a work is entered here, last name first. Search will work better if you use just the last name and a first initial (ie. lewis, c when searching for C. S. Lewis) since his first name entry may be inconsistent. Enter your search key in both AUTHOR1 and AUTHOR2 and select 'Match any field' to find all possible entries.
AUTHOR2
The co-author in a work is entered here. See AUTHOR1.
NOTES
Miscellaneous information such as number of pages or series name is found here.

MEDIA
Books are shown as hardcover or softcover. Multimedia items indicate the type of player required (ie. VHS, DVD, tape, etc.).
SUBJECT1
The subject information is very inconsistant. Search by single words if possible. Enter the search key in all subject fields and select 'Match any field' to find all possible entries.
SUBJECT2
See SUBJECT1.
SUBJECT3
See SUBJECT1.

PUBLISHER
The publisher data consists of the publisher name, city and state or country. Names are not always complete so use only the main word in a name during search. The state (unless unknown) is always the two letter postal service abbreviation.
YEAR
The year is either the copyright year or the last edition year if available.
DBENTRY
This is the date that the database record was created (year/month/day ie. 2008/01/09). To find the newest entries, search this field by current year/month or year/previous month.
